One of the country’s oldest theaters was bulit in 1822 by builder Josed Gaube. It belonged to the most important german theatre in Bohemia before the war. German group used to perform here till the mid twenties and then Czech performances were performed here as well.
The theatre is nowadays opened to all amateur or professional, domestic or external companies.
The theatre belong to the city and it is named after poet K.H.Mácha from 1945. The last major reconstruction was executed in 1991, only the enclosure walls Romain and opened again on 18.12.1991.
